J. H. SHERBURNE

FINE ARTIST

I have vivid recollections of drawing in my picture books when I was 2 years old. At that early age I instinctively understood that pictures created by artists yield more than the realities recorded by the camera. And a skilled artist can offer her viewers a glimpse into the soul of her subjects. That remains my inspiration.

In the 30 year interval from art school to portrait painter, I have had the good fortune to study with some of the best pastelists and portrait painters in the world today--and the equally good fortune to have patrons confident in acknowledging the spirit of my canvases.

My gallery and custom frame shop opened in 2001 in the village of Shelburne Falls in Western Massachusetts. Patrons and visitors are always welcome to drop bye, enjoy the unique ambience, sit to a quick pencil study or select from hundreds of molding styles for the perfect surround to your personal treasure.
